Trailer Conventions : Based On My Research

The conventions of a trailer is typically dependent on the genre of the movie it is advertising. However, it is possible to locate certain key features which tend to feature in the majority of modern day movie trailers, based on my research i have concluded that these features are as follows :

* Text On Screen (Production company,Actors names, Reviews, Description of the movie, Title of film)
* Footage from the movie (Or from footage which was later removed)
* Soundtrack/Music/Sound Effects
* Production Company Logo
* Transitions (Fade out to Black/White)
* Jump Cuts
* Audio Overlay (Usually in dialogue)
* Voice Overs
* Green Motion Picture Screen

This list can only be applied to modern day movie trailers as the majority of old movie trailers did not feature much footage from the movie and relied on text or dialogue to sell the movie.

Conventions Of Trailer In My Chosen Genre : Thriller/Horror

*Slow pace cuts which tend to increas into fast pace cuts (This increases suspense)
*Reverse Symbol Sound Effect
*Black Screen
*Rhetorical Text
* Slow music -> Loud, fast music
